Science fiction films have a stereotype of Jedi masters, Xeno morph chest bursters, and boldly going into the unknown. Yes, there are great features along these lines. There is another kind of science fiction film, one that portrays the human experience.  Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar (2014), and Moon (2009) starring Sam Rockwell for instance. Project Hail Mary, is that kind of sci-fi movie.

Much like the superior Interstellar, Project Hail Mary features a storyline where the planet is in danger, and a maned mission is launched to save it.  To clarify, I am not saying Project Hail Mary is bad, I’m saying Interstellar is the better film.  If you liked the Christopher Nolan space odyssey, the odds of you enjoying this adaptation of the Andy Weir novel are pretty good.

Thrills, humor, visual spectacles, touching moments, and bits of science (sone of it hokey) all add up to make up Project Hail Mary.  It has a bit of everything for a variety of viewers.  It works, on the way The Martian (2016) works.  That makes since, because both are based on books by Andy Weir.

This feature film os entertaining. Its a far cry from the greatest movie, or science fiction movie, I have seen.  In all fairness to this movie my favorite film, Gattaca (1997), is a science fiction film.  It is one of those science fiction films about the human, thay was previously mentioned.

Project Hail Mary is an entertaining sci-fi movie, with a bit of everything for a variety of movie goers, that is an entertaining movie.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
