THEY WILL KILL YOU (2026)

STORYLINE: A woman takes a job as a housekeeper in a NYC high-rise, unaware of the building’s history of disappearances. She soon realizes the community is shrouded in mystery. (IMDb)

How creepy films about ritual sacrifices can be.  The Wicker Man (1973) is the creepiest of them.  2019’s Ready or Not, and it’s recent sequel, are creepy, but more fun to watch.  Then there is the indy film The House of the Devil from 2009.  This spring weekend, They Will Kill You, is the latest horror film about ritual sacrifice to be released theatrically.

This kind of horror film lends itself to the shock value horror, with a lot of graphic violence, instead of jump scares, or tension building horror horror, that I prefer.  They Will Kill You has its share of shock value type horror, mixed with jump scares.  This led to a middle of the road, mindlessly, entertaining feature film.

While They Will Kill You is an entertaining, popcorn style flick it is also not really all that memorable.  I had fun watching it, right now I remember what I saw.  The movie ended twelve hours ago, though.  In the upcoming weeks, I have a variety of new releases, and repertory screens to watch that much more.  Plus the summer Blockbuster season is on the horizon.  I will quickly forget this action packed, horror film.

They Will Kill You is a mindless, entertaining horror film that is one I will forget about soon.

Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
