STORYLINE: A father-to-be tries to figure out what is happening with all this AI insanity. (IMDb)
Artificial intelligence (AI) is part of modern day society. Through the years, the concept has been a part of cinematic pop culture with films such as The Terminator (1984), The Matrix (1999), and 2014’s Ex Machina. Currently in release, is The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, a new documentary that looks at the subject of AI.
There is a lot to talk about with AI, the good-the bad-the history. The AI doc goes into all three topics of conversations.
The parts of the documentary that shined an interesting light was on the history of AI, and how it filly works. Where the movie spends most of its time is focusing on the bad, and conspiracy theories surrounding Artificial Intelligence. It is here that The AI Doc, often repeats itself. The 104 minutes drags. Had the film had less of these conspiracy theory style interviews, it would’ve been a tighter, and more interesting feature film.
The AI Doc has its interesting moments on its subject matter, but often repeats itself in the least interesting taking points.
Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
