    When I first saw the adds for Piece by Piece I admit I was unsure what kind of movie I was getting into. I had homework to do. That annoyed me. I apparently am not as smart as I let myself think I am,  you know what? That’s ok. We all learn. 

   After some homework I figured out the movie was a bit of a hybrid of two genres. It was in fact a documentary on Pharrell Williams as well as an animated film in the style of The Oego Movie. I initially thought this was going to be a spoof, the way The Lego Batman Movie ended up being.  

    Piece by Piece did hace that same since of playfulness.  After all it is a movie being told with legos.  Being a documentary the movie also covered a variety of serious subjects including the Black Lives Matter movement and overcoming personal struggles.

   I was unfamiliar with Pharrell Williams’ going into the film. Basically I knew the song “Happy” and that was it. I did not know what talented producer he used is and how many songs he has produced that I am familiar with. 

    What I really admired aboyr the film was how they showed his determination to make his name in the music industry.  There where times where Pharrell Williams had to get creative to get into the industry and it paid off for him. 

    Yes I a, happy I saw this film because I really enjoyed myself watching it.
