DOG MAN (2025)

STORYLINE: Dog Man, half dog and half man, he is sworn to protect and serve as he doggedly pursues the feline supervillain Petey the Cat. (IMDb)

Why should films for children be completely void of merit just because they are made for younger viewers?  A really good children’s film can be both entertaining and challenging.  An example of this would be 2017’s Coco.  On the other end of the spectrum are films that don’t even try to stimulate children. 2011’s Gnomeo and Juliet. Then there are films that fall in the middle.  The new release Dog Man falls right there.

Dog Man was a lot of fun to watch and brought out my inner child.  The film had plenty of laughs and if I were the target audience moments of age appropriate  suspense.

The film does have its issues that it tackles, beyond the standard good v evil conflicts. Dog Man just touches on them though instead of really exploring the issues.

I enjoyed seeing this film and the mindlessness of it at times.

Until next time I will see you at the movies!
