Big blockbusters feature many fun, crowd pleasing titles.  In the smaller realm of cinema, on the independent side of things, there is a wide variety of motion pictures to enjoy.   The cringe comedy Friendship made my top ten list last year.  Food Inc (2008) is a revealing documentary.    Then there are features such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (2021).  Fantasy Life is a brand new independent movie, making its way through theaters.

Fantasy Life is one of those films that awkwardly blends comedy in with the dramatic.  In these moments the films creates some socially uncomfortable moments to watch, as well as some genuine, heartfelt moments mixed in.

Fantasy Life ends up being a mediocre feature.  The majority of the jokes either fall flat, or end up being a tad to uncomfortable.  This makes the dramatic points, the climax in particular, underwhelming.  That’s not to say this movue does not have its moments, I am saying not all of them fully work.

Fantasy Life is a mediocre, independent feature film, featuring moments of drama and comedy.

Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
