    Some movies are oh so frightening, others are laugh out loud funny.  Some, like Shaun of the Dead (2004) and The Blackening (2022), cross the concepts into horror comedies. It’s at this crossroads we find the recent release, Over Your Dead Body.

   Crossing genres can be a lot of fun, when done properly. For instance, In Bruges (2008) mix and matches dark comedies with gangster features.  When the crossovers misfire, they really misfire. The western/sci-fi flick Cowboys and Aliens (2011), was well, let’s move on.  

    Over Your Dead Body is specifically a home invasion movie.  It goes for the absurd, achieve it quickly, and does not look back.  The humor is a combination of ridiculous, a bit bizarre,  and as over the top, after all this is an R rated horror comedy.  In an odd winning combination. 

    There’s not a whole lot to Over Your Dead Body.  The story is pretty mind,rss. This is a popcorn flick, that has been released a week before we start seeing the mega blockbusters of summer. Yes I am referring to The Devil Wears Prada 2 as a mega summer blockbuster. 

    Much like last years creature feature reimagining of Anaconda, Over Your Dead Body is a fun horror comedy. It takes its horror film inspirations from the home invasion corner of the genre.
