Movies are a fashionable thing, and have been for over a century now. It’s no surprise the subject of fashion has captived audiences across multiple features. Zoolander (2001), Beauty Shop (2005), Kinky Boots (2005), and Phantom Thread (2017) to name a few. This weekend Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt return after 20 years for The Devil Wears Prada 2.
The past decade or so there has been a trend to resurrect films from multiple decades ago. These films often seemed like they were one and done motion pictures. It surprises me how many of these sequels turn out to be good feature films.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 keeps the same high fashion standards as its predecessor. The sequel keeps the same level of fun and entertainment. Much like the first, it features beautiful, scenic locations, as well. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is a fun, popcorn flick that holds up to its predecessor. It’s an entertaining start, ti what is, hopefully, a fun filled, summer blockbuster movie season!
I look forward to multiple hours in the A/C filled theaters. If June, July, and August will be anything like the April I just experienced, they will be HOT. There were multiple days near 90°. This pattern mimicry the 2025 weather pattern. But that’s irrelevant right now.
Back on track. The first Devil Wears Prada movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. I wanted the sequel to be good. I really wanted it to be good. After emerging from the auditorium, with an audience that was thoroughly into the movie as much as I was, I was not disappointed. The audience was laughing and cheering throughout the movie.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is an entertaining sumner blockbuster. I am raising my over sized, probably over caffeinated, soft drink with no ice too a very fashionable summer blockbuster movie season, over the next few months!
Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
