   Look up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s the latest superhero blockbuster movie!  Supergirl has flown into theaters!

   The first attempt at a DC cinenatic universe was a hot mess. It was filled with continual miss fires. Though I will say Wonder Woman (2017) was a highly entertaining motion picture, and I stand in the minority when I say 2023’s The Flash is a guilty pleasure. Regardless, a reboot needed to occur. Last year, with the release of Superman, the reboot began. Supergirl is the next entry in this newly formed cinematic universe.

   Supergirl is less a superhero movie, like Superman, and more a science fiction, adventure film.  The movie skips the traditional origin story, and jumps straight into the adventure.  The origins of the cinenatic hero are sprinkled though out the movie, as a minor sub plot.  

    The adventure isn’t complicated. It’s a rescue mission mixed with revenge mission.  It’s the kind of movie I have described, in the past, as a popcorn flick.

    Supergirl, much like Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), features a fun, and often fast paced, soundtrack, that plays throughout the background.  This never overwhelms the events on screen, rather does what wgay any soundtrack or score should do, subtly enhance the events on screen.

   When adding up the fun adventure, aspects of Supergirl with the exhilarating soundtrack you get a motion picture that is a fun summer blockbuster. In late June, the middle of the summer blockbuster season what more can one has for right now?
