EVIL DEAD BURN (2026)

STORYLINE: After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws. As one by one they transform into deadites, she comes to discover that the vows she took in life – survive even in death. (IMDb)

Zombies frightened moviegoers, just after the new year, in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.  Shortly after that Rachel McAdams put her survival skills to the test in Send Help.  The hunt was on for a serial killer in Psycho Killer.  Hokum had audiences captivated with fear, while Obsession kept film goers returning to theaters to be frightened. Evil Dead Burn, the latest entry in the Evil Dead franchise, scares its way into movie theaters.

Within each individual franchise, there is a formula the films follow.  If it worked the first time why wouldn’t it work again, and again?  With multiple entries in horror, franchisees such as Halloween  and Friday the 13th, this point is proven. Evil Dead Burn is the sixth motion picture since the first film’s 1981 release.

This new feature comes with the classic jump scares, and blood soaked moments that have filled the previous films.  These moments are the back bone of the serious, and fans of the serious will not be disappointed.

Evil Dead Burn features the traditional story, where demonic spirits are arisen after an all to passage, in the book of the dead, is read.  Spooky things ensue.

The n movie, much like Evil Dead Rise (2023), is an elevated B movie.  It has the story telling qualities of a B movie with the production qualities of a midsized Hollywood production.  The original trilogy are textbook B films.

This was a fun watch, at least once. I don’t know how well it will do for me on rewatch.  The original three I still watch repeatedly, and with much enjoyment.  As for 2026 horror motion pictures, Hokum still remains at the top of my list.  Backrooms, is at the bottom.

Evil Dead Burn futs the formula for the Evil Dead franchise, it is a fun horror film to watch!

Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
