STORYLINE: Four estranged friends reunite at a house, where one plans to find a valuable antique by robbing it. However, the haunted house’s ghosts force them to overcome differences to survive.  (IMDb) 

    In 2019 Ready or Not had film goers, both frightened and laughing out loud, with its combination of frights and laughs.  Zombieland (2009) took audiences on a comedic road trip through the zombie apocalypse.  Renfeild (2023), with its unique blend of scares and laughs, put a modern day twist on the tale of Count Dracula. A new flick that, once again, merges the comedic with the scares has arrived, in the form of Haunted Heist. 

      Horror comedies fall into two camps.  The first is a more serious feature, they has a since of humor to them, in addition to their scares .  One of my favorites is Werewolves Within, from 2021.  The second type of horror comedy, tends to be less serious, and a lot more comedic in nature.  The classic horror tropes, are still part of the movie, as well as a few good scares are sprinkled into the movie.  The Blackening (2022) is a film that meets this criteria. 

    Haunted Heist, easily, is the second type of horror comedy.  There is a sense of humor that dominates the motion picture.  Haunted Heist has the elements that are in a traditional horror flick, including the rare jump scare. This would classify, specifically, as a haunted house horror movie.

    The humor in Haunted Heist is silly and slapstick. I am not complaining, because I enjoy that style of comedy, especially when Tiffany Haddosh is performing. She just so happens to be the leading lady of this feature film.  That style of comedy did over power the horror side, of the movie.  That was slightly disappointing, for me. However, it did not stop my overall enjoyment of the movie.

    Haunted Heist will not make my top ten list of the year but ended up being an entertaining horror comedy. It was a pleasant way to pass an evening.
