    It was 1953, when The War of the Worlds was fought. Fun random fact, that may just be my favorite science fiction  movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger battled an alien menace, in Predator (1987).  In 1996, Will Smith saved the day, from alien invaders, in Independence Day.  In Avatar (2009) mankind, were the invading alien force on another world.   Alien invaders have returned to earth, in the current release Hope.

    Alien movies do not all feature hostile extraterrestrials.  In films, such as Close as Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), the aliens come to earth in the spirit of knowledge and exploration.  Disclosure Day (2026), plays as a spy thriller, about the existence of alien life on earth.  The most common alien feature is the alien invasion feature. Hope is an alien invasion movie.

  All the ingredients to make Hope an alien invasion feature film.  Beings from outer space arrive on earth with hostile intentions and pick a fight with earthlings.  Much like other movies that have proceeded Hope, there are epic battle sequences with some really cool visual effects.  

     The film was a visual feast. The effects looked good.  They were a nice companion to the exciting action sequences. A bit of drama, among both human and alien characters, built them up nicely. 

   For fans of science fiction movies, which I am, Hope checks the boxes of being an entertaining thrill ride.  My complaint is the two and a half hour runtime. It just seemed to drag, sporadically.  Other then that I had no complaints. I was entertained.

    Hope is a niche filn. I know what you’re thinking, science fiction movies, particular, alien invasion movies, a dozen.  You’re not wrong. This one, though, is not homegrown in the United States.  It proves that genres have no borders. 

    Hope is a foreign language science fiction feature film about alien innovators. It features all the spectacle of these films can expect.
