1986 was a big year in cinena. Ferris Bueller took the day off, David Lynch releaseesd Blue Velvet, Fievel’s American Tail got told, and a certain movie enthusiast, whose blog you are currently reading, was born.  That same year year Tom Cruise flew to the danger zone in Top Gun.

It’s not a well kept secret that I am a fan of the classic eighties, action feature. Ok, it’s not a secret at all, I am pretty open about it, and why shouldn’tI be open about that?  I enjoy what I enjoy.

Top Gun, has been rereleased on the big screen to celebrate its 40th anniversary.  As I attended a screening, I was reminded of why I am in love with this motion picture. Watching those aerial sequences on the big screen took my breath away.  I loved watching that cheesy, classic 80s style romance unfold, in cinenas.  Those famous songs, blasting from all sides, on the surround sound, was music to my ears. The music was not the only thing I loved hearing on the surround sound.  Some of the classic lines I love to quote, such as, “I feel the need for speed!” put a smile on my face, as they engulfed my ears from angles.

I love beong able to experience a movie, such as this, in cinenas. Setting aside my preference for going to the theater over streaming, Top Gun is a movie designed for the theatrical experience.  It has great sound to take advantage not the sound systems, and filled with eye popping action sequences that take advantage of the huge screen.

As Top Gun celebrates its 40th anniversary, I had a blast watching this movie I truly love on the big screen.

Until next time, I will see you at the movies!!
