IN THE GREY (2026)

STORYLINE: In The Grey follows a covert team of elite operatives who live in the global shadows, as comfortable wielding power and influence as they are automatic weapons and high explosives. When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, the team is sent to steal it back on what would be for anyone else a suicide mission. What begins as an impossible heist gets much worse, spiraling into an all-out war of strategy, deception and survival.  (IMDb)

The con is on, so to speak.  Heist films can be exciting, action packed thrill rides. The Italian Job, from 2003, first introduced me to Jason Statham, who I remain a huge fan of today.  2016’s Hell or High Water is one of the slickest heist films I have seen.  Point Break (1991), starring Keanu Reeves, and Patrick Swayze, is just plain fun.  In the Grey, the latest feature to star Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill, has now made its way ro main stream cinemas.

Over the years Guy Ritchie has made a career of fast paced action movies, startling with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (1998). The exception is his 2023 release The Covenant, about an injured Army soldier being escorted through Afghanistan by his interpreter.  In the Grey is the directors normal action flare.

The movie is your stereotypical action, heist film.  Money is stolen, and those who iy was stolen from want it back. An elaborate plan is formed, and during the execution of said plan things go wrong.

In the Grey is filled with beautifully scenery, and features an A-List cast.  This feature is one that the viewer doesn’t really have to think about as they watch. It’s a mindless and fun heist film.

I like balancing what I see, at the movies.  In  the Grey was a fun balance to some heavy films, that I throughly enjoyed as well, such as Blue Heron and Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk.

The summer movie season tends to be a time of fun, big spectacle movies. The action, heist feature film In the Grey in a mindlessly entertaining summer motion picture.

Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
