    Instruments of war were created in tge features The Wind Rises (2013) and Oppenheimer (2023).  What a great doubke feature that would make?  Families learned of fallen loved ones in the powerful drama, The Messenger (2009).  Not all war movies are about combat troops, fighting the war.  The TV movie, San and Mayu are drafted into the war effort with their class mates as nurses during the closing months of the Pacific War. they escape only to face the harsh environment of a tropical paradise that has become a hellish battlefield.    Weapons of devastation, for the purpose of war, was subject of the motion pictures The Wind Rises (2013) and Oppenheimer (2023).  What a double feature that would make. Families learned of fallen loved ones, in the incredible drama, The Messenger (2009).  Not all war films are about soldiers in combat. Many war films show war from the perspective of others Involved. Cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood, a TV film, currently making the rounds in theaters, is an anime that fits that bill.

    Being an American film goer, the war movies I tend to see are slanted towards the American perspective.  Films such as The Wind Rises and the Oscar winning The Lives of Others (2006) offer me a different perspective of world history.  Cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood, not only is a war film focusing om recently drafted nurses,  instead of combat troops, but also is a WW2 film from the Japanese view point.

    Not all animated films are children’s movies, as tends to be the stereotype.  Cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood, is a war film. While it is not about the fighting troops, it still features a sense of intensity, yours might find a film about the fighting of a war.  This motion picture might not show all the bullets being fired, but it takes its drama from the ripple effects of battle.

   Cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood features the standard, gorgeous animation that I’ve come to expect in an anime film.  It is visually appealing, more so on the big screen. 

    With the exception of three, maybe four characters, who have less than five lines of dialogue, the film, his entirely made up of women.  I can rarely think of a film that does this.   Just thought that fact was worth a note. 

   Cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood os a WW2 film that shows the war, for the perspective of recently drafted nurses, and the Japanese point of view instead of the Americans. It’s a beautiful animated and well told dramatic feature.
