   The dead were being experimented on, in Re-Animatior (1981). In 1986, Jeff Goldblum transformed into The Fly.  Dinosaurs stepped out of the lab, and once again roamed the earth, in Jurassic Park (1993).  With the ever changing scientific landscape, and the potential of things going wrong, the latest creature feature to come of the slab, with this concept is Onslaught. 

   A24 Studios have released a variety of interesting features across a variety of genres.  In 2014, the studio released the dramedy Obvious Child and the sci-fi thriller Under the Skin.  Since then titles on their label include The Florida Project (2017), Eighth Grade (2018), Marcell the Shell with Shoes on (2022), and I Saw the TV Glow (2024).  Onslaught, is a cheesy B movie, and the latest release, from A24.

   Onslaught is a normal B monster movie. In a scientific experiment gone wrong, monsters, are created.  Naturally, they get out of the lab, and start creating havoc among the local population.  A group of locals band together, to battle the creatures.

    The creature feature features moments that are over the top gory, as expected from a B feature. The one liners that will have viewers grown with glee, are sprinkled into the movie.  The characters have there sorted pasts that come back to aid in an over the top climax. There is a shadowy government character, lurking in the background.  All this is the formula for a classic B monster movie. 

    Onslaught is a popcorn feature.  It was a quick 92 minute watch. That’s all it needed to be.  Honestly, that’s about the perfect wait for any kind of cheesy monster movie.  

   Onslaught Oscar’s fun monster movie, from A24.  Both the gene and studio are films I enjoy. I was pleased.
