STORYLINE:  Overwhelmed by her sister Hunter’s death, Jax (Slater) connects with Luce (Thomas), Hunter’s fearless friend. To heal, they attempt the infamous plank walk of Mount Kwan in Thailand.    Sylvester Stallone scaled the mountain to save the day, in 1993’s Cliffhanger.  The nailbiting, Oscar 

 winning documentary Free Solo (2018) showed audiences a mountain cliff climb, without safety equipment.   In 2015, a a true mountain climb went wrong in Everest.  Fall 2: Deadpoint becomes the latest mountain climbing thriller to climb on to the big screen.

    The first thrill seeking feature, Fall, arrived in theaters in 2022.  The film played on the fear of heights, as the protagonist of the film climbed a 2,000 ft tv tower, to create its thrills. In the sequel, Fall 2: Deadpoint recreates those thrills, by swapping the tv tower for a cliff on a  mountain edge.

   Sequel syndrome is when the original material is recreated similarly or in exact carbon copy and is presented to audiences. Regardless. , it is done on a grander scale.  Fall 2: Deadpoint is true textbook sequel syndrome.  Swapping the tv tower for a mountain’s edge, abd putting the sister of the character, from the original film, in the exact same situation.  

    This thriller attempts to recreate the thrills that made the first feature a mediocre, entertaining feature film.  The thrills fall short of being thrilling in an overly predictable story.  

    Speaking of that overly predictable, plot, the anticipation, I felt is how each mind numbing decision will effect the premise as I wait out the runtime. Seeing as this this motion picture was not hard to predict, that anticipation was lost. 

    With Fall 2: Deadpoint, it’s safe to say I found this movie to be a dud.  It is predictable, with underwhelming thrills, and is suffers from true sequel syndrome.
