STREET FIGHTER (2026)

STORYLINE: Street Fighters Ryu and Ken reunite when Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. As they face a hidden conspiracy, they must confront each other and their past-or face destruction. (IMDb)

This spring Mario and the gang returned to the big screen in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.  The day had to be saved, again, in Mortal Kombat II.  Cinema goers returned to Racoon City in Resident Evil.  Street Fighter is the latest 2026 feature based on a video game to be adapted for cinemas.

There are all kinds of tournaments that have been portrayed in future files.  Everything from the Olympic Games to Spelling Bees.  The world‘s greatest Warriors come together for Street Fighter.  Of course, there is a something evil goimg on, in this action, packed motion picture

Street Fighter sets its story in the early ninnies.  It is filled with cheesy dialogue, and mostly music of the time.  Some of the music is taken from later in the decade.  As someone who grew up, with he pop culture of this decade, this side fact annoyed me.  The dialogue was eye rolling. I enjoy bad puns, and cheesy one liners. The lines throughout Street Fighter had me shaking my had, thinking “come on, why?”

There was no effort put into the writing.  It wasn’t just the dialogue that was poorly written.  The plot barely existed. Something I should not admit, I got more entertainment, occasionally, checking my social media feed and weather app while this movie played. Since there was no one else in the screening I was not worried about the glow of my cell phone.

Even the action sequences were not exciting.  It also seemed they werevfsy and few between. This is a movie called Street FIGHTER, why is this the case?

  Street Fighter, no, just no.

Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
