STORYLINE: Two aimless young women inadvertently gain telepathic abilities after ingesting an experimental drug, pitting them against dangerous rivals pursuing the same powerful substance.  (IMDb). 

   In 1978, cinemas were Up in Smoke, with Cheech and Chong.  Jay and Silent Bob dealt all the way to Hollywood, in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001).  Harold and Kumar journeyed to feed their munchies, in Harold & Kumar go to White Castle (2008).  Kristen Stewart stars in the new stoner comedy, The Wrong Girls. 

    It’s a pretty simple concept behind stomper comedies. Some kind of silly, usually shenanigan filled story as the result of the central characters getting high.  It seems Cheech and Chong put this comedy style in the mainstream.  My personal favorite of these features is Dough (2015).  It’s more of a dramedy, then the typical slapstick feature in the genre, but fantastic none the less.  

    The appeal of The Wrong Girls checks two boxes for me.  The first, like other stoner comedies, is the sense of humor. It is a mix of slapstick and sarcasm.  

    The second box is Kristen Stewart is the lead, of the motion picture.  The Twilight features are huge guilty pleasures of mine, and she has made some incredible independent features.  The ghost story Personal Shopper (2016) and Alzheimer’s drama Still Alice (2014) are both films worth seeking out. In The Wrong Girls she gets to show off her comedic skills. 

    The Wrong Girls has its laughs, some repeated, and the better ones often. I laughed at these jokes.  Unlike features such as Pineapple Express (2008), The Wrong Girls seems destined to be a one watch wonder for me. I am not saying I didn’t enjoy the film, the opposite really.  It’s a stupid comedy, of you’re into stoner comedy. I am saying I doubt it will hold up to rewatch for me.  I did enjoy watching Kristen Stewart in the movie though.

   The Wrong Girls is a stoner comedy where the jokes tend to repeat themselves.  Kristen Stewart, was a pleasure for me to watch.
