STORYLINE: A director making a slasher sequel becomes obsessed with casting the original film’s ‘final girl,’ leading both women into psychological and sexual chaos. (IMDb)
In 1950, Norma Desmond had her close-up in Sunset Boulevard. Fifty eight years later, Black Swan (2008) danced its way across the silver silver screen. Perfect Blue (1997) had its fifteen minutes of fame along the way, as well.. Closing the books on the 2026 summer blockbuster season, is the pseudo horror feature, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.
There’s a lot of movies about Hollywood, and the movie making process. Hugo and The Artist, both from 2009, competed for the Academy Awards. They both pay tribute to the films of yesterday year.
Films like Mulholland Dr (2001) and Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, have a stranger feel to them, one filled more with curiosity and obsession.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma wears a few masks. One mask Ls a psychological horror film. Another is a slasher film. The movie is an erotic thriller. It’s all over the place, as if it has A.D.D.
Strangely it all works. Tying everything together is a goth like atmosphere. Also an incredible performance from Gillian Anderson, that runs through out the motion picture.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a strange movie. The trailer reminded me of a movie I saw at the Nevermore festival earlier this year titled, The Red Mask. I was hesitant to see this movie because of how much I enjoyed The Red Mask.
I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that,Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is destined to be one of the best films of the year for me. I enjoyed the strangeness o loved the visual style. The story was similar to The Red Mask, but different enough to be its own film.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is an odd but unique film. It is a standout of 2026.
Until next time, I will see you at the movies!
