It’s the end of August, and minute by minute, those long summer days have been getting shorter.  I live in North Carolina, the heat isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, though.  Good thing, I enjoy visiting an air conditioned place, that keeps their beverages cold. 

    The summer movie season kicked off with a bang, back in May, with the devilishly, entertaining sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2.  It’s predecessor was a guilty pleasure, and I went in really wanting to enjoy this sequel. With observational bias, I walked out having a blast.

    I walked out of theaters this summer, with four features (Disclosure Day, Toy Story 5m The Invite, & Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma), thinking they were incredible movies.  In a time of year, where the movies tend to be ice cream cones for the brain, four incredible movies are a feast.

   Coins have two sides.   There were films I disliked, over the summer. The Brink of War, Backrooms, and Is God Is have those dishonors, if you will.  Spider-Man: Brand New Day was a typical MCU snooze fest.  Surprisingly, DC’s Supergirl was a lot of fun.  Animal Farm, not only joins that list, but presenting it as an animated kids film, begs the question why is that presentation necessary?

    I got to see some great repertoire features on the big screen, as well this summer!  Tombstone, which is a personal favorite of mine, was a great experience to see.  The who dun it, Cary Grant mystery Charade, kept me on the edge of my seat. I was introduced to the exploitation feature Riverbend, and the drama Black Girl.  One of the past experiences, though, was a double feature of Mean Girls and Legally Blonde, where the audience was fully engulfed, laughing and cheering at both features!

    The majority of the films, were your typical big budget, Hollywood entertainment. I enjoyed being entertained, as I watched the fireworks, of the big summer blockbusters.
